"The secret to change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new."
~Socrates

Busy day in the neighbourhood this morning!

We were visited by Pat and Daphne from Riding for the Disabled, some GWG Key Clubbers (Zoey, Leah, Gillian and Jordan) and Natalia Porro.
Natalia delivered a bagful of Komfort Dolls.
  • Thank you Natalia!
Zoey, Leah, Jordan and Gillian came to give us an update from DCON 2017 in Portland (Presentation, some photos removed to fit, Sorry Gillian, below). The GWG ladies said it was "... an amazing opportunity with amazing spirit..."
  • Don't forget Key Club needs help Saturday 10am at GWG for their Bottle Drive.
  • Also if you have bottles the Sardis Bottle Depot has an account for them, #123.
Pat and Daphne from Riding for the Disabled were on their farewell tour, and celebrating their 34th breakfast with us!
  • See the images above of their card to us.
  • After 34 years, the Pacific Riding for the Disabled is closing. Hoping for the best, but closing. The ladies brought albums of all the adventures since 1983, it was touching and amazing. A wonderful flashback from many of our members.
  • These ladies have done amazing work throughout our community and estimate thousands of children have been supported because of their program, Chilliwack is blessed to have women like Pat and Daphne.
Other updates included:
- Moments and information from the Bahath fundraiser Monday night (check out the Facebook page for photos)
- Super Reader, assemblies under control and Arley with all the details, he shared some great photos too, check out Instagram for them.
- Nominations for elections open next Tuesday, April 18, Ernie will have the nomination sheet.
- McHappy Day is coming up on May 3rd.

I am pretty sure we have all the snow in all the world! So we'll break it up with this lovely sunshine!
Today we send our strength to Vic M. for a safe and healthy recovery. We also welcome back Shirley in good health! Dennis has also returned from his vacation.
We had updates from our Board meeting, Super Reader (assemblies are about to start), and Operation Red Nose (reminder the volunteer reception is on January 11- aka tomorrow). An update about the GWG Key Club Bottle Drive that was cancelled, they now have an account set-up at the Sardis Bottle Depot, so you can make your donation there!
The program today was an update about the Saturday Soup Kitchen and how the Sardis and Chilliwack clubs are coping. So far so good, but soup kitchen will come up at our budget meeting in February.
Other then that nothing too much new to report!

Make it an awesome week, see you all tomorrow!

Merry Christmas!

It was a low-key meeting today!
We had updates from Operation Red Nose and from the Promontory Heights Pancake Breakfast. Also a reminder that the GWG Key Club is running a Bottle Drive Saturday January 7 to fundraise going to their Key Club Leadership Convention in April 2017 in Portland.
We took care of our annual AGM duties and celebrated the spirit of the season!
A reminder that next week's meeting is a casual roundtable.
And just like that, we are onto Chritmas!
I wish each and every one of you, and your families' a very restful and memory filled Christmas with all the celebrations and joys that make Christmas the most magical time of the year.
All my best,
Michelle
